Our retreading equipment includes all typical equipment being used in both hot and cold retreading systems. When setting up a tire retreading plant, there are many important questions you need to consider:

  • What tire sizes will be retreaded?
  • How many tires per day are you planning to retread?
  • How many of each size tire do you plan on retreading?
  • How many shifts per workday?
  • How many hours per shift?
  • How many days per week?

 

In addition to tire sizes and production levels, another very important decision that you will need to make is what tire retread process is right for your plant. We can help you with this decision. There are two main systems used in the retreading process: Precure Tread System and Mold Cure System.

PRECURE TREAD SYSTEM

Today most tire retread plants, primarily those retreading truck tires, use the Precure Tread System. The process is usually handled over several stages:

  • Visual inspection to identify and mark defects through the whole section surface (?) of the tire (bead to bead). At some plants, NDT machines are installed to find non-visible penetrations on crown and sidewall.
  • Tire Buffing: the machine removes the worn tread from the inflated tires and prepares the tire for building the new tread.
  • Repair Station: the defects identified in the previous stage are removed and all skives XXX(?) are filled with strong gum materials that can make the tire vital for operation again reusable (?).
  • Cushion Gum Application and Tread Building: A bonding layer of uncured rubber is applied to the buffed surface and then the new tread is applied on the casing, centered and spliced.
  • Enveloping: on this station, the tire is inserted into a vacuum elastic envelope for curing.
  • Curing Process: The autoclave machine applies heat and pressure for a period of time. The cushion gum undergoes curing and adheres to the buffed casing and the new tread. The tire is now prepared.

MOLD CURE SYSTEM

Another retread process still widely used is the Mold Cure System. Once the primary method of retreading, it is now used mainly by those retreading passenger tires. It is also used by large volume truck retreaders who have tires of similar size and manufacture being retreaded and who require a minimal tread pattern selection.

During the Pelmar Group’s history, we have gained deep knowledge and experience in the tire retreading industry. The Pelmar Group was involved in setting up new tire retreading facilities for passenger car tires, truck tires, agriculture, OTR tires and aviation tires. We have also bought and sold tire retreading equipment & machines all around the world. We have conducted turnkey projects which included selling of tire retreading equipment & tire retreading machines, reconditioning and upgrading them, installation and training. We also assist our clients to contact casing, pre-cured tread and cushion gum suppliers in order to shorten their time to market.
