Tire building machine

1st Stage - 2nd Stage - Other

Tire Building machines are utilized in tire manufacturing plants and are designed to assemble the various components composing the tire into a round cylindrical shape. The conventional process is composed of two stages: the first stage the casing is built (inner liner, body plies, beads apex assemblies, sidewall), while on the second stage the belts and treads are applied on top the casing.

This formed assembly is very close to the tire's final dimensions and is widely referred as “green tire”. The green tire is sprays with special materials before vulcanization. In the curing press, the tire is shaped for a certain time under heat and pressure and gets its trean pattern by the grooves grinded on the mold surface.

Need A Tire Building Machine?

We have on stock diverse range of Tire Building Machines (TBM) for various bead size diameter for passenger tires (PCR), off the road tires (OTR), tuck, agricultural tractor and implement tires.

Tire Building Machines is a broad definition for all types of machines that can build a tire. It range from a first stage Tire building machine, to second stage, single that combines the two stages), band builders and strip winding extruder machine that build the tire by applying the compounds directly on the tire casing.

Tires play a major role in any type of vehicle requires carrying and transporting of cargo from one place to another. Tire’s primary function is to support the total weight of the vehicle, as well as the passengers inside and the cargo. It also transmits motor torque and acts as an absorber of vibrations and impacts obtained from roads. It is virtually acts as a spring when come in contact with the roads where it deflects to a certain point when it is balanced against the internal pressure of the tire. The variety of vehicles where tires are mounted is wide, and comprises automobiles for passengers, trucks and light trucks, buses, off-the-road and earth movers vehicles, motorcycles, aircraft planes and also vehicles for the militaries.

One of most important steps in tire manufacturing is process is tire building. The internal structure of the tire, known as the carcass, consists of multiple layers of rubber coated cords, which are formed by passing textiles (polyester, aramid) or steel a through a calender where a thin sheet of rubber is squeezed on both sizes of the fabrics.

The innerliner and body plys are then placed on the drum one at a time, after which the beads are set in place and the rubberized plys (reinforced with cords) are turned up around them. Bead joint has to be properly placed in order to avoid imbalance of the tire. For radial tires, this stage is typically executed on one machine, known as 1st stage tire building machine.

On the 2nd stage of the process, the outer structure of the tire is built, when belts, and tread rubber are added on top of the carcass on another machine termed 2nd stage tire building machine.

Tread component, along with the sidewall, are rubber compounds processed between a single-screw rotating shaft and a barrel, forcing the heated compound to exit through a die that shapes its final width and thickness.

After all components are assembled, the obtained finish tire is often referred to as a “green tire”. It is then rotated on a drum against set of stitching wheels that adheres all these 2nd stage components to the carcass.

Pelmar purchase and sell tire building machines from the most reputable tire manufacturers world-wide. It has vast inventory of used tire building machines of VMI, NRM, Pirelli, Matador, and Continental, including 1st, 2nd and single stage tire building machines for passenger, trucks and agricultural tires.
